*A union shop school district has a union fee (also called ”fair share fee” by union officials) clause in their teachers’ contract where non-union educators are forced to pay the union a fee in order to be employed within that district or educational entity. During the 2010-2011 school year, this fee was $405.00. If you are in a union shop school district, contact your school board to have this fee removed upon your contract’s renewal.
