Dear KEYTA Member,
In December, you should have received PSEA’s Hudson notice alerting you that the clock is now ticking for you to get in your religious objection letters. You have 40 days from the date of your notice, which this year is around January 23, 2012, to mail your objection.
Filing a “religious objection” allows union fee payers to have their entire union fee forwarded to a nonreligious charity.
For those who submitted a written religious objection during a prior school year, you do not have to resubmit this year. PSEA will consider your religious objection to be continuous in nature and unless you wish to change your charity, you do not have to resubmit your objection this year.
For union fee payers who have not previously submitted a religious objection, you can have your fee forwarded to a nonreligious charity if your religious or moral beliefs go against organizations that the NEA finances with dues dollars.
Please contact our office you need assistance writing your letter or would like our sample religious objection letter forwarded to you.
