The Pennsylvania House of Representatives recently passed House Bill 794, which would pay for all or a portion of the cost of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification for eligible educators. The legislation would also reimburse school districts for substitute fees associated with teachers participating in the certification process. Teachers who receive funding for this program must agree to serve as a teacher or administrator in a Pennsylvania public school for a period of at least three years, or be subject to repayment of the certification fee.
