Pennsylvania is expected to join other states in adopting the Common Core State Standards. These standards were designed so that state-to-state comparisons of these two subject areas are uniform. The Pennsylvania State Board of Education is expected to vote on the approval of adopting the standards June 30, as long as they are as rigorous as the state’s current academic standards. The Pennsylvania Legislature must also approve the standards through the Independent Regulatory Review Commission process before they can be implemented into our state school system. The final release of the standards can be viewed online at www.corestandards.org.
