On August 5, 2009, Governor Rendell approved Senate Bill 850, which was budget legislation that would allow for the release of funds necessary for state employees to receive their paychecks. The Governor held to his promise made to the State Legislators that he would veto the state expenditures that are still being negotiated, which includes education. If the final state budget is not passed soon, school districts will be forced to rely completely on property tax dollars to fund their schools, which are already lessened due to current economic conditions.
