School Board members in these school districts have restricted the freedom of their
teachers to join a professional association of their choice. Examples of this type
of control seem inconsistent in a profession where its practitioners regularly instruct
students in the exercise of responsible social and political freedom.
District employees can have this clause removed from future contracts by contacting
their school board and asking them to return your freedom of association by prohibiting
the union’s inclusion of an Agency Shop clause in future teacher contracts. |

School Districts in only three counties (Juniata, Mifflin and Perry) allow their
teachers to be free of union membership if they choose, while those in 16 counties
give a majority of their teachers that freedom. |
